Tinkered with the rim some more this weekend, I had to shorten the 12x24 hex bolts that fasten the shoes to the rim. Not hard, just an annoyance. The rim is now set aside and I started on a neck again. The peg head is cut to shape and rough sanded. I test fit the tension rods one last time and them set them in place so I could get started shaping the fretboard. Mimi showed here preferences again when she wandered into the workshop before dinner and commented in all seriousness that the neck looked too short! I had been undecided about another longneck or regular scale for a few weeks and she hadn't seen the one I had started. So after dinner I played on the longneck for awhile.
