Just a quick shout out that I'll be performing and teaching in northern California, Washington and Oregon this month. Here are all of the details you need and I hope to see some of you BHO members at one of these events:
January 7: Sunnyvale, CA: Bill Evans presents The Banjo In America for the Music Near the Hearth Concert Series at the home of Bruce and Heather Perlitch, 8 p.m., donation $15-20 at the door. January 8: Walnut Creek, CA: Bill Evans presents" The Banjo In America" in concert for the 2nd Saturday of the Month Concert Series at the Walnut Avenue United Methodist Church, 260 Walnut Avenue 94568, 7:30 p.m. show, doors open at 7 p.m. $10 for individual, $25 for families with 40% of proceeds to be donated to a local charity for hunger relief in the Walnute Creek area. January 9: Banjo Hangout Online Workshop on "Analyzing Earl Scruggs Solos," 3 p.m. Pacific Time, $25. Contact Eric Schlange at firstname.lastname@example.org to register. January 12: Berkeley, CA: Bill teaches a new six week section of his highly popular, user friendly and downright fun Bluegrass Ensemble Class at the Freight and Salvage, 2020 Addison Street. This class designed for players who are ready to move beyond slow jams but aren't quite ready for the stage. If you can strum, pick or otherwise follow along on just a few three chord bluegrass songs, you're ready for this class! All bluegrass instruments and singers are welcome. January 29: Folsom, CA: Bill presents "Bluegrass Banjo Jam Essentials," a bluegrass banjo workshop open to all levels of students at the home of John Hettinger 113 Puffer Way, from 2 to 4 p.m. $35 admission. This is a "hands on & let's play" session covering back-up strategies, playing in other keys, using the capo, jam etiquette, creating solos on the fly, using licks and much much more.
