So DP and I finally managed to find a day and time that would work for both of us and hit the road to head to Richmond, IN and back again to pick up my horse's meds and such.
It was a long trip, but a good one. DP and I haven't had a really good chance for honest dialogue with each other in awhile. And he was much more open about his past and some of the problems he faced as a child (an abusive father, being molested as a child) as well as some of the things that he's dealing with right now.
Plus we had fun. DP saw some cute blond when we stopped for gas at one point and was trying to catch up to her Corvette on the road a little later and he got stopped for speeding. I told him that's what he gets for chasing after cute blonds. And we wandered around Earlham's campus for a bit, found a couple of rocks for him to take back for his friend Wendy, got to see George out in the pasture, etc.
We left at 7am and got back close to 2am, so it was a long day. But it was a good day, too, and that's what matters most.
