Not a Bad Year so Far

Posted by banjowannabe on Monday, January 3, 2011

I got out of my leg cast in the last week.  It's good to move around, but it does detract from banjo playing.  The kids were home over the holidays and that was fun.  My son pulled out his grandmother's fiddle, and we got to jam a little.  Wish someone in this family played guitar.  Keep hinting to my wife, but she's just not interested.  I think I'm stuck on banjo, so I let my son, who can play most anything, take my Stratocaster back to Ohio with him.  He just got drafted into a metal/punk band, and he'll make better use of it than I can (please don't smash it up or let it get stolen - it's such a nice axe).  Anyway, instruments are meant to be played, and they don't do any good sitting in cases. My son is the groups songwriter/singer, but the other members let it be known that they could use a few extra licks in the mix.  I really think he should electrify his viola - cause he can really rip that thing up, but he's just too conservative.  Metal/punk shouldn't have a viola is his conservative thinking on the topic.  That's the problem with the USA right now.  It's just too darn conservative.  What happened to all those good liberal heavy metal/punk bands?  They would have accepted a viola as a righteous  instrument.  Everybody has the right to shred.  Fate's Awake - it's what will be happening as soon as they get out of the studio.
