Bob and I spent the morning at the Sears Portrait Studio updating our promo photos with current photos of banjos and guitars we have been using. We were very pleased with what we got for what we paid. They also will put all your poses on a CD and you get the copyrights to use the photos however you want. Of course, it was not the same shoot you would get at 10 times the price with a private photographer, but Bob and I thought there was a limit to what they could do with our old faces--so it seemed a good option for us. Just thought I'd mention it as there may be other musicians wanting to update, but can't afford big name photographers. :)
This is one of my new Chuck Lee Banjo (a low res. shot I made from the high res. shot you get on the disk.

Mary, you look wonderful in the pic, and I hope that it works well for you, promo-wise. Portrait photos can be amazingly expensive and this sure looks like an affordable and attractive option.
Now for the girly stuff. I used to have beautiful fingernails. Not too long, perfect shape, always polished. Then I picked up a you-know-what and my nails now look like they belong to the guy on the chain gang who turns big rocks into little rocks. I notice that yours in your pic are bright red, and they look adorable. I am thinking that maybe my nail-polishing days aren't over, after all! Thanks for the inspiration.

I was going to ask the same thing? What is that color called, Kill the Old Red Rooster Red?
You look great Maryz.

Okay folks--here is the scoop on the red nails. I tried to wear clear last year at the Florida FolkFestival because we camp for four days and it is easier to keep clear cleaner looking.
Of course, folks came up to complain because they say it makes it so much easier to see where my fingers are going if they are painted red. :)
That's nothing in the complaint department, though. My husband roasts, grinds, perks, and then walks around with a coffepot every morning at his job serving those folks who enjoy fresh world coffee. My daughter and I get it at home and we have become quite spoiled--but that is family. :)
Now, Bob, does this at work out of his own pocket and energy--plus he buys really nice green beans from around the world. Whenever, he goes on vacation or is out of town--he said the folks at work come in when he gets back to complain about not getting their morning coffee! :) And of course, they can't go down to Starbucks or the cafeteria anymore because they are used to "fresh roasted and fresh ground." :)

ps.
The color is OPI red. OPI has carried this color for years and is one of the consistanly true red colors on which you can depend .
Just tell your nail tech "OPI red" when they ask what color. It doesn't matter what language you or they speak either--everyone who does nails knows what "OPI red" is. :)

Sal--oh yes--Bob has a roaster. He got it for Christmas and has been roasting away ever since. :)
Best wishes,
Mary Z. Cox
