I was thinking back on some redface moments when I used to play and sing in public.Believe me, I have had my share.
They were funny to everyone but me at the time but looking back even I have to admit it was funny! One night I had been invited to one of the largest churches in Evansville,Indiana to sing and play.
I was introduced and the second I hit the first note the music stand in front of me fell in slow motion off the stage. So I just smiled and walked down and got it back.Another good one in another church was when I had a pick up on my acoustic guitar and when I stood up to play I was standing on the cord of the pick up yanking it off with the volume on! I was so rattled I sat down to reattach it only to stand up and do it again.As if the first time didn't get enough laughs
Another time when my lips touched the mic a loud pop and blue spark nearly made me run out the door! Then there was the time that a guitar playing friend had us set up to do a benefit. We practiced several times,him on guitar me on banjo. The big night came and I kicked the first song off and soon noticed nobody else was playing.I went on but when it was over I whispered to him asking what happened.He just stood there through the entire set,every song and was silent.After four or five songs the MC announced we were going to play a song that neither of us knew.Then another and another.Needless to say it I was glad when it was over.
On the way to our cars my friend apologized for freezing up and promised not to next time.I don't need to tell you there was no next time! It was all worth it because now I am laughing too!
