OK, I know this is an odd bird at best.
I may have succeeded in equally offending every one…. Lol
I was up late one night and was thinking about parts gathering dust, a what looked like a banjo resonator a friend he picked up a yard sale, cheap Stratocaster copy guitar and a few of the stainless steel banjo rims we made up a few months ago.
This is the result of tossing all the above together.
Yes Virginia, it is a banjo with a guitar neck.
It plays like a nice old Telecaster, smooth creamy action and sounds exactly like it does.
I cut the head stock to look like a telecaster and fit into a banjo case, I re shaped the neck profile to have a light vee like the old telecaster from the 60’s.
If any one has a banjo guitar that I can play --I could use a point of reference. I have never played one before and have no idea as to what they should sound like.
So do you have any idea as to what I should name these if I make a few more?
Once I work out the details I have parts to make two more—or maybe I should just finish out the pots and leave this idea alone…….
Hey it would make a great travel guitar….
I JUST PUT UP A FEW PHOTOS
