First Track Completed for Upcoming CD Release

Posted by Frailblazer on Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you my progress on the recording of my CD which is scheduled for release in May of 2011. I will use this blog to post future updates and info.

I’ve completed the recording of one of the tracks entitled “First Light”. It’s an original tune played fingerstyle on the Romero 12”. I was inspired to compose this one while traveling from my home in the US to Europe and watching the sun rise somewhere over the Atlantic. It was a spectacular site from 40,000 feet.  It has a classical flair to it with a strong Baroque influence on the final, ending section. It is a solo banjo piece that includes meter changes from 4/4 to 6/8 (between the "B" and "C" sections) and a few tempo changes as well.
I’m planning on recording one of my arrangements of an old time tune next.
Stay tuned for updates…

- Ric

Sounds good, Ric. I look forward to hearing your album. I'm sure it will be a great one. I enjoy your classical style very much.

Looking forward to the complete CD...Are you recording it in your own studio?

Thom, Marc,

Thanks guys for your interest. I am doing the recording in my own studio which I setup last year. I'm still in the process of learning the more esoteric aspects of the recording software Im using (Logic Pro 9). It is a very powerful and feature rich DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that definitely takes some time to master.
