I know I'm a procrastinator, but with good intentions... the banjo build is now taking second place. Actually my wood working skills are only fair and I have been putting off the banjo build, and now with playing in a band I'm thinking a standup bass is more appealing than a regular electric, so the brain wheels started turning and I came up with the idea of building a Standup bass also known as a Double bass, or Contra bass. It will be like a jazz bass size 34" scale, so a jazz player can adapt easier. It will be a hollowed out body with a double bass look but will use peizo pickups with a preamp. A 3/4 size double is too big to lug and who has stage space to swing it? And have you seen the price of 'em?
So it will only be 16" wide and 48" long and hopefully sound and look like an upright. Anyway if anyone is interested in info... there's lots on the net or drop me a line.
Kevin
