Western Michigan is beautiful this time of year...

Posted by kc8tby on Saturday, October 2, 2010

This doesn't have much to do with playing the banjo, so, I apologize to all of you all  in advance.

I was just so impressed with how beautiful our home here in western Michigan is during these early months of Autumn. We are blessed with an abundance of trees that paint the autumn skies in a wide hew of colors.  As I write this I  am looking at an ancient, stately old oak tree on my neighbor's lawn.  It has such a wide spectrum of colored leaves that it defies any ability I might have to describe its beauty with any justice. Last night I caught the very first wiffs of wood burning stoves that so many folks out here seem to have in their homes!  Lovely!!

OK...just wanted to share that with you.  Next post will be back to banjo topics....promise!  Thanks for allowing me to paint this beautiful Autumn picture for the rest of you!

Peace,

Tom

Yes Tom, Mother Nature sure does put on a show here in Michigan! It is my favorite time of the year to be out doors.

I've been in Grand Rapids, but could never understand why that part of MI was called "western Michigan," as 2/3 of the UP lies west of GR. Perhaps I'll start a campaign to rename it "western lower Michigan", or better yet, I won't worry about it.

Nobody really knows what's over there in the western part of the UP....

Just kidding; it's wild and beautiful. But we trolls who live "under the bridge" do tend to forget about our brothers and sisters in the UP. I tell people I am from "northern Michigan" when the truth is that I'm from northern lower Michigan. But "northern lower Michigan" sounds so strange...

All the more reason for the UP to spin off and become the 51st state, but then how the heck do you arrange 51 stars on the flag? Let me ponder that next time I can't sleep.
