Hi Nick,
I reckon about six hours a week. Sometimes it's a lot more. Three nights a week I'm on my own, so I normally sit in front of the TV practicing chords and new tunes. That can be two or three hours a night. I don't know why I sit in front of the TV, 'cause I don't really watch it. Just more comfortable I guess. The only day I don't normally practice is Sunday. I'm generally out doing archery all day and I'm far too worn out when I get home.

I get about 6 hours a week right now. Some times I will get an extra two hour session in on Saturday morning if I can. I try to practice in 30 to 45 minute sessions. I find that if I put the banjo down and come back to it later, I develop muscle memory better than if I push myself through longer marathon sessions.

I try to do an hour a day. Would love to do more, but usually it's less - let's say about five hours a week. And I agree with Donnie that doing it in bite-sized chunks (20 or 30 minutes or so) is more productive than sitting there for an hour or two. (Jane: you're s-o-o-o lucky to have your son at college. I remember those days when mine was at uni; he's been through that and is now back at home having only just got a job!)

I try to practice (about?) an hour to an hour and a half per day. I would also like to have the time to practice more but in my case I need to find a time to play when there is nobody other than myself here in the house and when I'm certain that the neighbors either have their windows shut or that they are not home! LOL!!
