My Stelling Sunflower arrived today. I played it all day and just got home from band rehearsal where I used it. Here is what I have to say about it.
The banjo is great and plays like butter, probably the easiest, fastest banjo I have ever played. It sound real good and has no problem cutting through the jam, but it just absolutly lacks the killer tone of my 33 Gibson TB 1. My Tb 1 is something special and it took this other fine instrument to eally bring that to the surface. The stelling is awesome do not get me wrong and it plays better and easier that my pre war, but the mature tone of the Gibson is un-deniable.
In my perfect world I could combine the 2, I can rip through meloic type runs and licks o the stelling like never before , but the pre war sound is just amazing on my 33. If I did not have the 2 side by side I would be absolutely hapy with my new stelling.
On another note my Bluechip JD crowe thumb pick finaly arrived as well and does not have the bite and tone that my Pro pick has, I`m sticking with the Pro pic
Peace

Hey Pepper, same deal for me, i love my new Nechville but my Gibson has years of tone built in now, however it does not play anywhere as good as the Nechville does. I have put the Gibbo to one side and am enjoying every minute with my new banjo, i love it. Hope the Stelling comes through, i think it just needs Peppered up a bit!!.
