Boy, have things changed since my last post!

Posted by lrzberry on Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I've hardly touched my banjo in over a year.  Frustration, mostly, is what brought me to a screeching halt.  I want to start again, but I don't want to be disappointed by putting it away again.   So I'm hesitant.

I've been "fiddling around" with it here and there. I'm taking it slow.

I started playing way back in the 70s but just like you I just couldn't get it so I stoped playing banjo and just played guitar but the banjo was my first love in music that was 40 years ago, I started again about five years ago and played every day since some days I feel like jumping on my banjo but still play, play your banjo every day it will come, what I'm trying to say is don't give up, evern the top guys have the same problems as we do, I play about 40 songs now and go to a lot of jams and I think I can stand and play with any body, I wish I had keep going 40 years ago, so go and pick up your banjo and play it you can do it. Happy picking. All the best john.

Thanks for the encouragement, Airborne. One of my hinderances is that I have no private place to practice. I've always wanted this to be for me, at least until I feel confidant enough to play with (not for) others. My husband and I both work at home in the same space. I have a very small 900sqft home. There's really nowhere to go for a little privacy. When he's out is when I fiddle around.

Hi lori what I do some times is go out in the car and play in the car, my other half works away a lot but when she's home I have an old banjo that I've put an old jumper in side so you can't hear it that works great, give that a go. I evern thought about sitting in a cupboard under the stairs lol but I hope you do keep at it in six months you will see a big difference. All the best john.
