And so, as the saying goes, the journey begins. The journey in question being my crazy attempt to learn to play the 5 string banjo at the advanced and tender age of 58 years young!
I have always been a great fan of folk music. In particular I have always loved hearing any kind of music that was played on the banjo. Now that may seem a bit strange to some folks who know that I was born and raised NOT in the deep south nor anywhere near anything that could even remotely called the mountains. No, as some may know I am a city born boy through and through. To make matters even more unique some folks may know that I was born and raised in no less an urban jungle than Jersey City in that great state of New Jersey! Not exactly the breeding ground of famous bluegrass pickers or of down home clawhammer players either. Oh well, maybe I will be the first? Am I to be a trend setter of sorts? LOL!, So, anyway, I know what I like and I like what I know and the critics be damned! :) I like that sweet melodic sound produced by that most happy instrument of them all; the banjo. And, I will learn to play it just as sure as God gave us little green apples and crooked politicians. (Hey, I'm from Jersey! I had to throw that in, right?)
Wish me luck!
Tom

Nothing crazy here. "Some day I'm gonna" has no age limits attached to it. All the best :)
