The ALBEMARLE RAMBLERS Toronto Concerts & workshops.
Time is drawing near my friends and now is the time to reserve limited spots for a special weekend of Old Time Music festivities held at a central Toronto location.
The Albemarle Ramblers are
Pete Vigour – fiddle, Dick Harrington guitar & vocal, Arnie Naiman banjo.
For starters Pete is also in the Virginia stringband "Uncle Henry's Favorites"
and is a renowned southern style fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist. He makes his living teaching and playing music. This is a big chance to pick up authentic southern style bowing and other tips to really
get into that old time groove.
Dick is an amazing singer and solid guitar picker- a member of "TheTroublesome Creek Stringband" who released a stellar old time cd on County Records
Intimate House CONCERT Dates:
Saturday September 25th: at 7:30 p.m.
Old Time Jam session will follow – bring your instruments and lets all have some fun!
Opening up “The Saturday Saints” Danny Simmons (banjo, vocals) and Kristin Cavoukian (guitar, vocals) The Saturday Saints revisit traditional, old time, bluegrass, and other acoustic songs, with a focus on strong duet singing and simple, thoughtful arrangements. They recently recorded their first album, Hand-Me-Downs, a collection of traditional songs that captures the energy of their live performance.http://www.myspace.com/saturdaysaintsmusic
Sunday September 26th at 7:00
Opening up “The Blackest Crow” Hannah Naiman and Emily Adam are the up-and-coming duo The Blackest Crow. Their harmonies & traditional, yet fresh material will blow you away! Find them on Facebook.
These two accomplished young women are on the move. Hannah writes ballads that sound as if you might have heard them in the court of Elizabeth I - only they're better written (not that Arnie's biased!) As for Emily, well..."There are few situations in life that cannot be improved upon by adding a cello."- J.Crabtree
