I just spent two weeks in and around Anchorage, Alaska. My oldest son teaches in Anchorage, and he also likes to play music with his buddies (band name is "Hot and Awkward"). He really wanted me to bring a banjo, but I really didn't have room to add an instrument. So, I perused the BHO member database for players in Anchorage. I found flynbanjo (Kelly Leseman) and could see he'd been pretty active for a bunch of years, and he was relatively my age. I emailed Kelly and found that he was actually a former Minnesotan from my home area. We chatted a few times, and he offered to loan me a banjo while I was in Anchorage. I met Kelly and his family, borrowed a banjo, and we arranged a fun jam at his place one night during our visit. The BHO makes the world a much smaller place, and it introduces us to each other. I am grateful to Eric Shlange for the vision and know-how to get this site on line. I know I'll be back in Anchorage to visit, and now I have a bluegrass buddy there. I leave a standing invitation for any of you who might travel to northern Minnesota. Contact me and we'll have some fun.

Sounds like you had a good trip Tedd. But was the banjo you were playing a Nechville? Banjo hangout is just about the only banjo resource I have. There are not many banjo players in my area.

David, It was an old Epiphone...the neck was like my old Gibson, so it felt familiar. Beggars can't get choosy, and I was glad to have a banjo in my hands. Congrats on the new Orion....play that thing to death.
