Blue Chip Thumb Pick

Posted by Just Bill on Tuesday, June 22, 2010

I received a Blue Chip thumbpick in the mail yesterday (my Father's Day gift to me) and I couldn't be happier!

Yep, $40 is a LOT for a thumbpick!  Extravagant, even.  But it was worth it.  I'll never go back to a plastic thumb pick.

I'm confident their flatpicks are just as good.  Listen/watch the videos on their home page.

Oh, the one I purchased was the J.D. Crowe, medium...

Okay, enthusiastic commercial is over...we now return you to your regular programming...

I hear ya Bill. I just spent a weekend at a bluegrass festival near me. I must have played over 10 hours in the heat and humidity. In the past I'd go through 4 or 5 thumbpicks during the weekend to try to eliminate that scratch. Also took breaks and wiped sweat on the picks and rubbed them on the leather strap. It was just a constant minor annoyance.

This was my first festival with the Blue Chip and I didn't have a single thumb pick scratch issue all weekend. Whooo hooo!!!

Bill, you're right - once you get used to a Blue Chip you can't go back...well, that was true for me anyway. Congrats.

My cuticle on my thumb used to get infected using plastic picks. This has never happened with the BC. The BC never slips off even though it doesn't fit tight. Less scratchy as stated above. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat!

Yeah, Danny! I'd buy another, too! In fact, I DID buy another, so now I have two! (Didn't want to get caught without a spare!)

Hey, Gord! No, darn it, I cannot make Blythe. I had to step down from doing that one because of my flying and battles with the FAA. :( But I'm very interested in your new thumb pick! Will it fit in little thumbs like mine? If so, how about I buy one? I'll send you the price plus shipping and you send me one of your great thumb picks. Lemme know and I'll get you my address. Take care, my friend!
