i recently played my banjo at church... i practiced for an hour and a half a day, for a week straight.... and it just didn't seem like i was learning anything for the first 2 days... i dont know if it was because i wasn't completely into it or what...... but finally i was able to get the song to where i could play it good... now i'm working on a song called "the great speckled bird" and it's a lot tougher.... but hopefully i'll be able to learn it with lot's of practice...lol.... if anyone knows of any good gospel music books for banjo.... let me know... cause my knowledge is limited.and everything i need for banjo has to be ordered online:(.

Brandon: There are a bunch of TABS for Gospel Songs - but not a good way to search - so you have to either painfully scroll through the tab lsits, or know whaong you are looking for. The latter is probably the better approach. You can make yourself a list of popular gospel bluegrass songs by taking a look at the ads for some of the gospel songbooks - they sometime list the contents, like they do on Amazon. Just google bluegrass gospel songbook.
Also you should post your question in the Forums area of BHO. Just click on the forums link (upper left) and go to the appropriate forum. There is a lot more activity there.
Good luck with your learning. You are way ahead of me - at 65 I really struggle to remember what I go over and over - but I'm still at it!
A couple easy gospel songs are I'll Fly Away, I saw the Light, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, Do Lord, and Back to the Cross - all very popular sing alongs.
I lived in PR for three years - back in the mid 80's. Had a good time there.

thanks, wayne... i apreciate the info, yeah i moved here 5 years ago, and love it.... but i can't find a store that will order me banjo stuff... i have one gospel bluegrass book, but a lot of the songs are too advanced for me, i have to pick and chose from the list of songs.
