Hey to all of my friends and supporters out there in the world and on the web. Just wanted to let you know of a couple recent things I am excited about. One recent development is that I now have a brand new web site:
Ta da! Trumpets sounding... * www.dittyville.com *
The paint is “still wet” despite this official unveiling and interesting things are slotted to be added over the next little while so please check back from time to time. I want to thank Erynn Marshall for all her encouragement and Pharis Romero for being the web designer and for doing such a great job. Dittyville.com provides insight into my background as a musician/songwriter and why I do what I do. Also, you can find upcoming concert dates and info on latest recordings/collaborations. I am particularly excited about the “Songwriters Corner” where I can pretty much talk about whatever comes to mind for as long as I like. For many of those that know me, this may stir a bit of apprehension! Don’t worry, there will also be useful tips for songwriting or words of support for all songwriters, and even some Mp3’s of some of my new songs as they “crop up.” I hope you will come by and visit. Feel free to drop me a line and give me feedback or just pass along a howdy-do.
Other news! After a long stretch of being out-of-print, Two Pictures, the 1995 recording that Alabama fiddler, James Bryan and I recorded onto an old Nagra field recorder—(aptly wielded by producer, Wayne Martin) has been re-issued and is now available as a digital download on CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com). It makes my head “reel” to think of the jump from old reel-to-reel tapes to the digital universe; but this recording seems to have a universal appeal and I feel fortunate to have been a part of it.
For those who haven’t heard it, the fiddling is a great sampling of why James Bryan is so highly thought of by the old time and fiddle communities. Also on there are a few of my original tunes and songs as well as a couple of old poems I set to music and still love to play. Speaking of rambling, I will stop there for now and close by saying please come on by to Dittyville.com and I’d be grateful if you would pass along the news about Two Pictures to friends that might be interested. Keep enjoying music and don’t forget to live creatively.
