The waiting is over

Posted by Pepper Laing on Friday, March 19, 2010

The wait is finaly over, my Pre War arrived. My uncle called at 5pm ish saying they had made it home. I immediatly headed out the door to the country to pick her up. I through on Dan Tyminski Cd Wheels and hit the highway, trying not to speed. The ride couldn`t have been longer. I got to my uncles and opened up the case, and there she was!  After a nice visit I floored it back to the city and just finished playing it for a couple of hours. I could not be happier with it, it is everything I was hoping for. It came in better condition than Jim Mills had described to me, I believe he under promises and over delivers. There is a definite clearer, richer, solid, distinct tone to the banjo, than my others or any I`ve had the chance to play. The notes and string seperation is clearer, It has that rattle, you can feel it. My other banjos although are very good just seem to lack what this one has. It plays so nice, the neck is alot slimmer than I`m used to but I love it, it just feels more delicate and easier to finesse. This banjo has so much character, she`s got Mojo! I`m the happiest dude in Winnipeg tonight, probably in Canada, that`s how I feel anyway. I`m gonna put on a pot of coffee, I`ll be up for awahile. The wife is somewhere on a cruise in the Carribean, I have a show tomorrow night, no one to bug, time to get to know each other. What an excellent Friday night!!

The importance of progressing as a banjo picker relies on the one simple fact of having an instrument that makes you want to take it out of its case and play. From reading "My instruments" you've got a few of these. Way to go on your new banjo!!! I would love to hear you play it.
