Well I have gotten a little better with my playing; still don’t know very many songs to play. My wife got me the “How to build your speed on the Banjo” from Ross Nickerson. What a great book, being here without a teacher to go to, this book is showing me that I need to focus on the basics and do the song learn in smaller bites. It is a great book to add to any picker’s collection. It just goes to show, that all the comments folks post for the newbie is true work on those rolls and then work on them again.

I would say come to the jam every once in a while and try to pick along a bit. I didn't for many years and regret it. Playing with others will help your timing, and give you a list of songs to concentrate on.
