Valerie Mindel, Emily Miller, Jesse Milnes and Ragged But Right!

Posted by arnie on Monday, September 21, 2009

A double House concert with Valerie Mindel, Emily Miller, Jesse Milnes and
Ragged But Right!!

Valerie (who used to live in Toronto) and her daughter, Emily, have been
singing together for all of Emily's life and have been teaching harmony
workshops together for the past 10 years. Their specialty is the tight
harmony so prevalent in early country music. These versatile singers and
instrumentalists are joined by Jesse, fiddler/guitarist/singer
extraordinaire from West Virginia who is also featured on their new album,
"In the Valley." (Val, Emily and Jesse will be doing a weekend harmony
workshop on Saturday, Oct 3rd and Sunday, Oct 4th--for info on this, email
Worldsongs3@yahoo.ca ).

Ragged But Right are our own Arnie Naiman and Kathy Reid Naiman who will be
doing some selections from their CD, "Down Harmony Road."
With guitar, banjo, and dulcimer accompaniment, you will be treated to some
good old time songs learned from the Delmore Brothers, Uncle Dave Macon,
Charlie Poole, Riley Puckett, the Boswell Sisters, The Hickory Nuts, Whitey
and Hogan, The Carter Family, Washington Phillips, and Toronto's own Rick
Speyer.

Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 8 pm, doors at 7:30
$20
(Maybe we'll even have a few tunes afterwards!)
