ball end strings

Posted by clio on Saturday, August 15, 2009

Acquired a cheap Chicago banjo with bakelite resonator and when attempting to restring it learned loop end strings will not work. Must either buy a new tailpiece or find ball end strings of the sort used on guitars. Don't recall seeing banjo strings with metal balls on the end at local music shops in years. Anyone know where I can buy a set?

You might check www.elderly.com or www.banjostore.com.  I think both carry that type of string.

I use to take small nails and stick thru the loop that worked for me. I did that wit my old Kay, However I'm sure if your diligent you will accomplish your mission.
