One months practice

Posted by RUBY2 on Thursday, July 30, 2009

Well thats just over a months practice now.

I was going to add a blog entry every week but to be fair apart from thinking it would be a bit boring to put the same comments each week I have not been on the BHO site because I a) have been too busy at work to get on and b) I have been practicing on a night rather tan being on the net(surely a good thing).

So over a mont later how am I doing? Well I have practiced between 1/2hr to 1hr a night and only missed two nights practice in the month so I am happy with that.

I have now moved on a little and finished the chord and melody to Skip to my Loo and Aura Lee song and just finishing  Wait until the sun shines Nellie although this has been much more of a slog and some of the chord changes are very challenging for me. On a nights practice I start with each song in ease of playing and work my way through each song trying to get faster but keeping my eye on making sure I am not going faster than my fingers can keep up. This is easier said than done as I want to play the songs at the correct speed and have to force myself to slow down.

I have the Buddy Wachter dvd also and am blown away by the tremelo instruction but cant get away fronm wanting to finish the song I am on at that time.

I want to get myself in a more structured practice with chords and tremelo practice, so need to put some efffort into that . I also have the mel bay book complete tenor banjo and chord practice these are written in notation form so I have not put any effort into this but it is something I want to be able to do so later on I can work out my own songs without relying on tab.

Well that's enough for this month. Lets see how I am doing at the end of August.
