In my last entry I started banjo lessons 2 weeks ago. Well last night while practicing Cripple Creek, I noticed something amazing, it was actually sounding like Cripple Creek for the first time. Though it's nowhere up to the speed it should be but that'll happen in time. 2 weeks ago I was scratching my head on how everyone was making it sound so smooth then last night it just happened, I guess the planets were aligned and the banjo gods spoke to me. I'm glad I listened to the folks here about the advantage of having a teacher over teaching yourself. Even though this is not a milestone in my eyes it is a big step in the right direction. Now it's time to keep practicing and hone my skills so it sounds like it should. Hopefully before long I'll be good enough to record it and post it on BHO. Well it's back to practing Cripple Creek just wanted to share the good news.

Teacher's make a BIG difference. If you love to practice and learn I found it's best to learn ON PURPOSE. My new teacher has me going back to RE-learn some rolls and patterns I first learned 30 years ago. And it's really cool to hear that different sound or play a song that sounds like it should. :) Keep going...

Practice,Practice,Practice Its the only way. I try and Play for at least 2 Hours a Day. You will find if you put the Work in the Rewards are worth it.

Yep, it's a milestone. I figure every time a song that I'm learning starts to sound like the song, I have achieved a milestone.
