i hope this message finds everyone well and warm, its a rainy day in amazing, green, boulder, colorado and i'm writing to you while sipping coffee and listening to gillian welch...i've heard rumors of her touring with paul simon...anyone know about that?
life's been wonderful and challenging as it often tends to be, and i've had the pleasure of being a part of some great projects, for ease of digestion i'll organize the latest ones geographically:
~ my song "long gone" received and honorable mention in this year's telluride troubadour contest. check it out at:
~ will knox is finally heading into the studio to record a full length and i'll be providing the banjo and the whiskey, look for a release this fall.
~ gregory alan isakov has brought me on board his group, his new cd "this empty northern hemisphere" was released last week, we had a great show at the fox theatre. look for him on tour with brandi carlile www.brandicarlile.com this summer. we'll be working on a project for the fall.
~ i'll soon have the pleasure of recording with head for the hills on their new album produced by drew emmit, can't wait for that one
~ i recently returned from a tour of the virgin islands with my good friends chris thompson and adam kinghorn(of head for the hills) we had an amazing time in the sun and the water.
~ plugging away on the solo record, been writing as much as possible and really working on my banjo-ing with the amazing jayme stone (who won his 2nd juno this year). look for jayme all over the planet this year.
~ i'll soon be the proud owner of a new baby banjo. jayme stone is graciously passing on stewardship of his huber custom vintage series and i'm very excited to continue the lineage of this great instrument.
well, thanks everyone for continuing support and perky ears, please write back and fill me in on the details. if you'd like to see me play, here are my upcoming shows as of my empty coffee cup,
