Wel, I actually said to heck with it - after dancing around it -
and sat down with Clawdan and Wayne Erbsen, because I had totally wrecked my right wrist, couln't move it, and couldn't do much with it, so I figured it was high time to pick, as it was in a perfect captive position. That was acrtual my last post - (7/28)
Needless to say, the best way to learn anything is movement deprivation - you go nuts, you get pissed, and you do the only thing you can - IE get down to business with the banjo.
So I did, and it sits next the couch, and I play over the TV, the phone, the tenants, etc. if I sit down, I pick it up. if I have a free moment, I pick it up. If I am outside, I pick it and the stand up, and it goes with me.
I am so bleedin' addicted. Just recently picked up Dan's Festival tunes, and read every tune all the way thru the book, to see what I liked - both easy and advanced tab - but cheat, because as a fiddler, I also read the fiddle part, and then do, of course, what I think best. (like all of you!) LOL!
I had it for awhile, but hadn't tackled it - after several months of being in love with anythingsawmill, (or anything I could play in it) I can also play in other tunings. Yes Dan, I am still a closet dwighthead - (LOL!) but can change tunings, and enjoy them! HAH!
And right now love to play a mixed version of Kentucky Bufflao Gals and Hangman's reel -
