This last three months has been wonderful, challenging and significant.
Wonderful in that we have been in a completely different place, doing something completely new.
Challenging in that all the things that traditionally have been strengths in my life have been set aside so that I can learn a new language and assimilate to a new culture.
Significant in that instead of being a so called leader (having led congregations for many years) I have been relegated to a humble student. It has been good for me.
My wife Polly and I have called this "fasting from the usual" and indeed I wrote something on my blog about this.
One of the things that has been a blessing is checking in to this forum regularly. Some of you have blessed me hugely by writing and encouraging us - thanks. My banjo has been a great companion here as it is always there to be played and picked. I have not used it much in ministry, but some. It is more than an instrument - it is a link to home and what is usual.
Anyway we return for five months changed and blessed and ready to share in our network of churches and we will continue to raise support for this ministry.
Blessings - Ian
