Yesterday was my first (won't be the last) trip down to the Brunswick House in Toronto Canada to listen to the Foggy Hogtown Boys standing Saturday afternoon gig. What a treat! Though there were only 2 "boys" present and accounted for, filling out the band was a terrrific guest flattop guitar player (Mark) and an equally amazing guest mandolin player (Emory). I thoroughly enjoyed the music and got a chance to say hello to Chris Quinn, the banjo player extraordinaire from the Foggy Hogtown Boys. Not only are his muscial chops exceptional, but he is a class act through and through, gracious, kind, helpful and understanding. I felt both humbled and inspired as I watched him perform with the other equally talented musicians.

I hope to get down there some Saturday soon. Chris is all that you say he is. I have head Mark play, remarkable.

Thanks Chuck, I wasn't sure how to go about posting a reply to your comment on my 'hangout blog location. Oh well, this'll work..
Chris is indeed a great teacher, and we are very lucky to have him in our neighbourhood. You may find it amazing how proficient you can become (at our age!) but you have to dedicate an hour or thereabouts just about every day. Not hard to do once you get the bug! I"ll look for you at the Brunswick one of these Saturdays -- I haven't been getting to many of them due to family commitments, but hope to soon. Check out the Hagersville bluegrass festival -- if I have the information right, the Grascals may be coming to that one, and Aaron McDaris is their banjo player -- they just don't come any better. Do you subscribe to the Banjo Newsletter? If not, it's a great investment in all things banjo.
Cheers!
