I started playing Banjo Dec 22, 2008 and learning this instrument has been very enjoyable for me, not sure about for my wife though. I had many of you help me out with advise, instructional materials, motivation and just plain fun, and for that I am grateful. I have learned a few songs, and practiced for many hours. I started with an instructor and took 6 lessons and realized that I was not feeling good about my progress during this time. I since found another instructor that fits my expectations much better and I am very pleased to be working with her. She is an awesome teacher and a great person. She has started me back to the basics and I now realize how much I was missing out on as I tried to learn to play. There has been much focus on improving my timing and accuracy of hitting the notes and I can tell it is helping me out as my songs are sounding much better. I have developed some pain in my right hand, mostly up my thumb and wrist, that I am having trouble with. I am sure that I am not the only one to experiance this and would love some advise or home remedies if you have them to offer. Well enough for now. Thanks again for all your help. Live, laugh and enojy life.

And off you go. It's a great ride wherever you wind up. It may not be where you expected. I thought I was going to try and play like Bela 15 years ago but now I want to play the old traditional stuff. Try and enjoy even the tough stuff.
