I have a tendence to rush my rolls and melodies while I practice. Sometimes faster than my short stubby fingers can roll or fret. Trying to be as fast as you veterans !!!!!!..... So I may try to rig up a shock collar to my metronome and every time I rush it I'll get a jolt and slow down! I may hold off a little on that idea, at the moment, because I really dont have a death wish. Have a good one! Chris

With a banjo like that, Earl, & JD both would have trouble with there rolls lol. Keep trying, it will come.

try to play along with a metronome.....I can tell ya,they's mighty hard to stay with......but you can sure tell you progress with one of those. You can up the speed a bit each day,and tell for sure whether you're improving your speed or not......Don't try to do it all at once.

Thanks ks. I just get to wanting to pick faster and cleaner and get to rushing it. Some days my fingers move faster than others it seems like......I'l just keep plucking along the best I can, and the speed will come.

So long as your practicing its all good. I can pick real fast one day, then get my fingers in a knot the next. I guess all us newbies just want to be better eh?
By the way. I might be a relative.
