April 11, 2009...some thirty plus years since Earl inspired me to begin playing the banjo, I got the chance to see him again last night here in Charlotte. And inspired again, I'm now a part of the "Hang-out." While it was great seeing Earl on stage again (at age 85 I'm surprised he can even stay up that late...I'm done by 10 or so myself) and reliving many memories. It was great being there with my son (also a musician) and fellow-banjo-loving-friends, but the highlight of the night was getting to jam out front of the auditorium with a "festival collection" of pickers. Thanks Don for the Mastertone hospitality and to Aaron for the introduction to the hang-out.
Looking forward to my next "BANJO DAY."

Hi Michael, welcome to the hangout. There are a lot of nice folks here. I have read a lot of post about the concert, sure wish I could have been there. I have to warn you, the hangout is ver addictive.haha. Enjoy, and welcome aboard.
