mike seeger

Posted by majikgator on Friday, April 3, 2009

i seem to have a big mental block trying to figure out mike seeger's banjo part on the song "room at the top of the stairs" on the retrograss album, i get close but never there. at this point i don't even know if i'm in the right tuning can anybody give a nudge like the tuning and the first few notes. it seems simple enough but for some reason i'm just not getting it.

I think it was just your regulat g-modal(gDGCD) tuned down a bit. I think he played a thumb lead (a la Roscoe) with a pick on thumb and index.
