Funeral Music

Posted by countrydirt on Sunday, October 29, 2006

A friend and I played guitars and sang at a funeral yesterday.  Old cowboy songs and hymns.  The son of the man who died said we could bring the banjo if we wanted, but that would have seemed to surreal (besides, I only know one somber song on the banjo and can't play it yet)

I've played at a the weddings of a number of friends. I don't look forward to playing at anyone's funeral, though. Still, a beautiful way to say "Farewell".

Troy,I done a funeral a few years back with just a banjo and guitar.Lifes Railway and Amazing Grace were the 2 requested songs by the young man who had passed due to cancer. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we finished singing Amazing Grace.A banjo can be played as gentle as a childs touch with the right attitude.

Unplugged - it was an honor for me to play for my friend.

Rodney - thank you for the encouragement.  Soon, I will be able to play with a gentle touch.
