I've been lurking around the BHO since 2003, and I have found it to be a wonderful resource. I consider the online friends I've made--some of whom I have met at various functions. Heck, I can hobnob with the heavyweights of the banjo world right here. I met Tom Nechville, Bill Keith, Ron Block, Alan Munde, Jayme Stone, Tony Trischka, and recently Johnny Butten. In some cases a simple email has led to great conversation extending far beyond the banjo world........yes, there is something else out there!
I must also comment on the entertainment value of the BHO. I laugh when someone asks a simple question and 50 people weigh in on the topic--sometimes getting so far off the trail that the best hound couldn't retrace the it. I get a kick out of Glenn Miller, Ron Block, John Boulding and Jody Hughes getting intense about "the chop" or some other technique. I especially enjoy when Ron writes one of his legendary megaposts...thinks for a couple of minutes....writes another, then sometimes another. Regardless of your own thoughts on the subject--if you have any at all--you have to admit that this is good entertainment. I love when Hugh has to flex his moderator muscle--generally in a kind and gentle way.
Well, I was just in the mood to finally say something about how much and why I enjoy the BHO. Please don't fight me....I'm a lover, not a fighter! I've pretty much spent my life espousing the Alfred E. Neuman credo: What, me worry?
