It is going away! All the positive waves must have come rolling in. Yesterday it was alive. Today it isn't. Thank God and you my friends, thank you so much!
I could have faced aputation of my left hand or if it had stayed longer and travelled through my blood my weak immune system wouldn't have had a chance. This was the meanest form of Mersa but it is no match for so many with their minds in one accord against it.
I was scared to death that I would lose this hand to that stuff and never play the banjo again. I am so happy and I'll be picking right away!!! God bless all of you!!

Congratulations on the positive prognosis! What a shocking problem to have had. Now you have even more for which to be grateful.
I have occasionally thought of how I might cope with having only one hand. I'd have to drop the string instruments that I currently play, or learn to play some of them left-handed. I've sometimes thought about how one might fasten hammers to a prosthesis for playing the hammered dulcimer. Should that ever happen (heaven forefend!!!), I won't quit - I'll learn to play some other instrument that can be played one-handed or with a good hand and a prosthesis (bowed psaltry, hammered dulcimer, resonator guitar, harmonica, ...).

You know there was a famous one armed banjo player whose name I can't come up with, I think it was Emory Martin. I bought his autobiography and a tape of him playing banjo. he was very good too. Thanks all of you for the continued support.
