I'm a lefty and play  "normal" banjo.  No problems.  Look at it this way:  both hands have to do something so what makes the difference which hand is fretting and which one is picking.

I had no problem learning banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro, bass...... any musical instrument.

Actually, it might be better for lefties because the left hand has to do so much stuff:  make chords, do slides, hammers, pulls, chokes.  The right hand just has to pick rolls and do pinches.  This is oversimplified, of course, but basically that's all there is to it.

So don't worry about being left handed.  There's a bunch of us lefties on here who play "normal" banjos.

One other thought:  if you play a normal banjo then when you go to festivals or jams, you can play another person's banjo (with permission, of course) and if you play a leftie banjo, you'll never be able to play anyone else's banjo.

Good luck!
