getting frustrated...

Posted by anetc99 on Sunday, February 15, 2009

so, i've been practicing again, more regularly than in the past, and i'm getting frustrated.

i've gotten better at 'Old Grey Goose' although i still balk at the forward/reverse version, and i've been starting to learn 'Worried Man' although i'm so lousy i don't stay at it long. (i'm following my book's progression - Mel Bay's 'You can Teach yourself Banjo' with the Janet Davis DVD)

i wish i was taking a banjo class. not a tutor but a whole class so i had other people's experience to compare myself to. but on second thought, i'd probably get frustrated there too, in the comparing.

i did take one lesson with a tutor but didn't follow up with that. once i get done with a couple of other expenses i think i'll take another shot at it.

i don't know. i guess i'm feeling all alone with my banjo and not in a good way. i think i'll do a search in the threads to see if anyone else talks about this.

that's all for now.

hey Annette, I know just how you feel. I started with the same book as you last May. Playing the banjo isnt easy but it is fun. Just be patient as it does start out slow, at least it did for me. Just practice those rolls everyday before practicing your songs and you'll get there. I promise. Tom
