I retired formally Jan 4 and it is a joy. The pastorate can be stressful and yet wonderful. My wife and I spent the last three weeks on a tour of old friends and to get some sunshine in Texas and Florida - Vermont can be gorgeous but chilly at this tie of year.
March 3 we head to Lima, Peru for three months of language study prior to our becoming missionaries there some time in the late fall. I shall be teaching and mentoring clergy there with a special emphasis on ministry to the poor in the shanty towns.
What banjo to take? I am thinking my Vega based on a great Dan Pennington rim. We shall see.

I wish you ythe best on your mission to Peru. My wife is from El Salvador and I hope one day to play the banjo in Latin America as a way of cultural sharing.
