This weekend I decided to take my favorite openback banjo and head to the park. I went to Spring Lake Park at Texarkana, TX. They have water, ducks or geese (not sure which one probably both), playgrounds, piers for fishing and all kinds of benches scattered around. There were tons of people for this area. Most people had dogs and kids. One guy had a snake wrapped around his neck. Not me, I had a banjo. haha That was a lot of fun.
My new year's resolution was a few banjo goals. I was able to work on 2 while at the park. I was practicing snow drop while playing in a public place. I played out there for a few hours. It seemed like everybody wanted to stop and talk to me about my banjo. A banjo is a for sure magnet for drunk people. I had one person ask if I knew any Ted Nugent and one woman who was volunteering to sing. One guy also wanted to dance. One little kid seemed mesmerized by the banjo, and I let him strum it.
There is something amazing about playing old time music while watching the ducks in the water. Hail Agin the Barn Door seems so appropriate while watching all the wildlife. I will definitely keep going back.

Hey Merit, isn't it fun to play outside like that?
I would really like to learn snowdrop. Did you learn it by ear or did you find tab somewhere?
