Maybe she didn't really want to marry the guy. He found her and she just gave in. He may have "Blessed that happy Day"
She could have lived the rest of her life resigned to the fact that she was Married to a complete loser.
LOL

Taking that song seriously--and its author may not have intended that--a case in the news last month concerned two young children trying to walk home in snowstorm and the girl died in the snow, while the boy found shelter and survived. You might remember the case; their father was arrested and charged. You might examine the details of this case and come up with a new song based on the debacle. Many of the older banjo tunes and songs of the mountains were based on actual diasters--Floyd Collins comes to mind. There are very interesting songs about floods, tornadoes. Take for example, the Seldom Scene song about the 1972 Agnes flood. Come to think of it, I have not yet heard any songs written about the Katrina diaster, although they probably have been written. Thanks for your thought provoking question!
