It took a week or so but I've managed to get re-acclimated to life after the holidays. I'm doing especially well playing/practicing the banjo. It's what I want to do these days. My guitar playing is coming along, but slower. I'm not as excited about that, probably because I'm mostly interested in rhythm and accompanying myself as I learn to sing, which isn't nearly as much fun as learning new licks on the banjo.
I've actually written a handful of lyrics. Putting them to music isn't an easy proposition. Hopefully as I become more knowledgeable and accomplished it'll start to come. If not I'll have to enlist the aide of someone who is better equipped for that sort of thing than I am.
Anyway, I'm going to Memphis this weekend. I want to spend some time with my father, step-mother, and half-brothers. Hopefully I'll get a chance to pick with Randal Morton a little. Then it's back to the coast and down into the rut that I'm so comfortable in these days. It doesn't seem right that I'm picking while Rome burns. Oh well. I'll keep sweeping around my back step and hope that that's enough.
