Well I have done it, without even trying. I have hit that place where no matter how hard I practice I am not getting any better. I don't think I will be able to progress any farer in the learning process without some help. I have looked for a teacher here and have been able to find one. I will look on line today to see if I can find someone that teaches on-line to get me through this low point in my banjo life.

Check here on the Hangout. There are at least a couple of people who teach online.
Go to the home page and look on the lefthand side under "lessons" and then under "find a teacher".

hang in there ... these little plateaus pass in time .... trim down your expectations and try to focus on 1 tune or 1 exercise ... and TRY TO HAVE FUN !!! Treat it like a video game ... 1 level at a time. Be thankful for the small accomplishments ....
Before you know it ... you'll see yourself as a new and improved picker.

Tom, please don't get discouraged with your banjer! There are no banjo teachers in my rural area, and I bought Tony Trischka's "The Complete 5 string Banjo Player", and learning from it, and having a blast playing with him on his CD's. Also, Pete Wernick has this banjo tab book on his website with these bluegrass tunes tabbed out, and on CD to play along. It is alot of fun too! Good Luck, and a Big Banjo Thanks for serving our country!

Well, with the banjo you just won, you'll be encouraged to practice more...that's for sure.
If you've learned the tab, just continue to do it. Personally, I always used the easy tabs and then tried to add my own licks to it. Before you know it, you'll be moving on pretty good.

Tom.. you should come over to www.banjolounge.com and pick with us.. you're sure to learn there. My playing has improved greatly over the last year just from the practice, and listening, and encouragement rec'd there. Hope to see you there some time, it's a lot of fun.
