2009 Music Resolutions

Posted by meritcooper on Tuesday, December 30, 2008

As I have learned from Dan Levenson, you have to set specific goals in order to get better. Man, I can't wait to go back to his camp. So, I decided to make a musical new year's resolution for my banjo playing.

  1. I hope to learn at least 10 new clawhammer songs this year.
  2. I want to learn at least 1 Dwight Diller song.
  3. I want to learn a bluegrass song in clawhammer style by ear. For example: I have started working on learning The Crow in clawhammer style. I think this will improve my learning by ear. I also think if I am not tied to any certain tab, I will just play it like I want to and maybe be more creative.
  4. I want to play in public more. For example: at the park or wherever. I think this will help with getting over stage fright.
  5. I would like to get rid of at least 2 of my banjos.
  6. I would like to get Snowdrop up to speed. :)
  7. Hopefully, I would like to do more videoing and look less stupid or concentrated in it. I always feel stupid smiling at a video camera.

You're not smiling at that video camera Merit, you're smiling at us!  ;)

Keep it up, you're doing very well.
