Since I have started learning clawhammer, I have really dove into it. I haven't really done much bluegrass since I started the clawhammer because I knew I would keep going back. Last night, I was fooling around with trying to play with songs. I know clawhammer playing isn't as much about chording and bum-ditty but some songs are just begging for it. haha I have been spending my time working on actual tunes (no bum ditties) and alternate tunings. Last night, I tuned back to G because I know a poop load of chords in G and cranked up the music. This may be sacrilegious but I was able to sit down with Truth NO 2 by the Dixie Chicks ( I will whisper this name incase it is still a dirty word on here) and had a lot of fun with my open back banjo and frailing. Then, I sat down and picked out some stuff with the song "Mary did you know" by Michael English. I seem to switch back and forth between finger picking and rolling and then frailing. I guess the two styles are bound to meld anyways.

Just think, now you have several more BHO Forums to lurk around on. And, we will look forward to another banjo tat, this time an open back, perhaps with scottich thistle, or rose briars, just thinkin.
