Any recommendations for a pickup for my Ome open back with 12” pot?

Long bed. Ya never now when you'll end up hauling a long neck banjo.

These are pretty good in my opinion, with the right signal chain.

I appreciate what you guys are sayin', but really a 1/2 ton long bed is kinda the worst of both worlds.
I mean, you don't get 'great' mileage like you would in a Ranger. Yet whattaya gain? Payload? Not really. You're gonna need an F250 or better to haul a trailer full of banjos...
I say choose between mileage or payload, and shop accordingly.

OK then, buy 4 Rangers. It's your money.

I have an OME Alpha and a Ford Ranger so it is a good combo. It is an 11” banjo but a 12” would fit at a pinch. If on the other hand if you were talking about a mic pickup…Tom Collins has a YouTube called Let’s record Clawhammer that might help.

I like the Kavanjo. I have one on an old 12" Ramsey with a brass hoop tone ring. I run it through a Baggs Paracoustic DI box. You loose some banjo tone, but it's really easy to control feedback if you're playing in a loud environment.

Most of my more recent Omes have resonators and are therefore heavy, and with my horses old and passed, my big diesel one-ton Ford Road Locomotive crew cab is perfect for banjos and any accompanying pickers! Travel safely! Plenty of banjo room in the old horse trailer, too.

Apologies to the OP for my wisecrack and taking this thread off course. It was inconsiderate and unhelpful, and not representative of the spirit of support usually offered by this community. Thanks to the OP for being such a good sport about it!

Silver Falls. Yep a good sport and some good advice about banjo transport AND banjo mics. I call that a win win situation. As well as good humour taken the right way, combined with advice, that is actually a healthy approach to the Hangout.
