I have met or interacted with a lot of very good people in the course of my short career thus far as a banjo builder. It's been well over 100 banjos since the last time I got burned on a custom build, so I have much for which to be thankful. I just completed a left handed banjo for someone, and on the day I started applying the finish I got an email from him asking if he could cancel his order, since his catalytic converter had been stolen while he was gone to Germany for two weeks. My policy is that once I start work on a banjo I expect the transaction to be completed, but I know there's always a chance that someone may die or become seriously ill, or otherwise be unable to follow through. I may need to start asking for a deposit for custom builds, at least ones that are outside my usual stock banjo designs.
It's unfortunate that this particular banjo is left-handed, which I think may reduce the number of potential buyers by an order of magnitude or more. I am hoping that possibly there may be someone out there who might want this banjo, or maybe just the neck in which case I could make a right handed neck to fit the pot.
