Going in a similar direction of solo banjo instrumental CDs such as Adam Hurt's Earth Tones and Steve Baughman's Shootout at Convict Lake, both featuring gourd banjos, I decided to make and record one entirely on mountain banjo. I've been working on this project for the last month (I originally had conceived the idea around the time of The Mountain Staircase) and am now waiting for the physical copies to arrive. Mountain Opus contains 12 tunes on 10 tracks (10 old-time tunes with two original tunes). It will also be available digitally through all of the digital music sites along with my other albums, The Mountain Staircase and Shamrock Clawhammer, hopefully by the end of the month.

Thanks, Andy. Crossroads Country Store in the Shenandoah Heritage Market, perhaps? Rex Miller, the owner, has been a great and honest guy to deal with along with his son, Matt, and he's been carrying my CDs long before I moved from Virginia. It's one of the few outlets I have for physical copies.

For whatever 50 years of playing and listening are worth, Noah Cline is my all-time favorite player and the best clawhammerista
I've ever heard. His technical skills are flawless, but like masters such as Wade Ward, he uses his skills to enhance the music, not to show-off. He puts the needs of the music first.

Technical skill is what it is, but what makes Noah great is his understanding of the music and impeccable taste. These separate genius from mere flash.

Well, I was planning on releasing this CD around the end of the month (taking into account for the digital distribution times), but the physical copies arrived today (about two weeks earlier than I expected), so I went ahead and uploaded it to Bandcamp. I was planning the same for CD Baby, but I'm going to have to wait as their facility is closed due to covid and are not receiving master copies at the moment. I decided on an official release date of June 20, 2020 (West Virginia Day), but I'll just treat Bandcamp as a pre-release, since I'm a little over a week early.

Yes.  Crossroads Country Store.  The next time you get to New Market stop at Valley Pike Music and play a tune with Ben Miller, the owner.  Excellent Old Time fiddler and banjo player.  He also does instrument repairs.  He would probably sell your CD's also.  He is about your age and just opened his shop last year.  He is a reenactor also.

In my opinion, this CD is very, very good. If you like the sound of a fretless mountain banjo...this one is recommend.

BTW, I posted the Midsummer On-Line Banjo Fest flier on two Facebook sites for clawhammer banjo. It has received many likes and shares, too. Are you selling any mountain banjos as one of their vendors?

Thanks, Janet. Chris Rippey (Tales of the Boatman on YouTube) had contacted me about the festival and wanted to see if I'd be interested in participating either teaching and/or being a vendor. I will be one of the vendors, and hope to have a couple banjos made for sale by then.
