Could someone explain the order in which to play the measures in attached.
Among other things, the last three rows of measures have a repeat symbol in very last measure but no starting repeat symbol in an earlier measure.

First measure is played once.
Then play the portion between the first two repeat signs, using the "first ending" indicated by the number 1 above. Go back to the repeat, but this time don't play the first ending, but skip to the "second ending," indicated by the number 2 above.
Continue into the next section, and again play the first ending, go back only to where the first section ended, and play through again, skipping the first ending and instead playing the second.
Continue into the third section, which has no first and second ending, simply repeat it, then go on to the final measures, and repeat them.
The repeated section of music is only played twice; then you move on to the next repeated section without returning to the previous section. The alternate endings for the first two sections are most likely what seems confusing.

More difficult to deal with than the repeats is the lack of note values or timing. What’s an eighth note and what’s a quarter? Are slides and pull-offs sixteenths or eighths? Who knows?
Without a recorded reference showing what it’s supposed to sound like, this kind of tab is tough for even experienced players and borderline unplayable for novices.

This being the internet, I'd suggest looking up this Strickland guy and asking him.
And then report back here.

Typically a repeat at the end of a piece with no other corresponding repeat earlier to denote the start of the repeated section means go back to the top and repeat all.

according to this video John Brown's Dream - The Ale Raisers and others I've watched, the last repeat jumps back up to the 2nd measure and repeats the whole thing over again with the same repeats...over and over until the violin stops screeching. Here's an easier tab for the note values John Brown's Dream Tab - Jeff Strickland
