Raymond flipped his lawnmower off a hill and is hurt pretty bad.
Here's an update from his Facebook page:
We wanted to give everyone an update on Raymond. He has a fractured pelvis, cracked tailbone, bruised lung, a very bad contusion around the right side of his face and a concussion. We are still waiting for the second test results of the CT scans for the bleeding on the brain, which is the most serious part of everything that is going on with him since he is on blood thinner for his Atrial Fibrillation. Everyone please continue to lift him up in Prayer. Many thanks, The Fairchild family.
Please pray for Raymond's speedy and complete recovery.

Tragic news. Raymond you have my prayers for a speedy recovery as well as a full recovery.
Hope to see you doing a new version of your most famous tune "Whoa mule whoa" maybe title it "whoa mower whoa".
Heal up and get back at it friend!

Raymond Fairchild
We're getting a lot of messages asking for updates on Raymond's condition. He is still in the hospital and he is being checked out by some of the best Dr's in North Carolina. His condition is stable and he is making progress, but he has many weeks of Physical therapy ahead of him when he is released from the hospital. Raymond and his family are very grateful to all that have sent Prayers and positive thoughts his way, please keep them coming. Many thanks to Maggie Rainwater Budd, daughter of Charlie Rainwater, for coming and sitting with Raymond last night so Shirley could go home and get some well deserved rest.
With Kindest Regards~The Fairchild Family

My fond memory from my 1st visit to the Maggie Valley Opry...
BluGenGZR - Posted - 08/23/2017: 10:58:24
Hi Fred, thanks for posting that video of Raymond at the Opry. Great version of "San Antonio Rose." I hope to God he recovers quickly and fully. If I am not fortunate to ever see him in person I'm thankful that I became "acquainted" with his great talents and heritage.

Prayers going up for Raymond. It is a treat to watch him in person as he works his "magic" on a banjo. If there is a better, more innovative banjo picker on this planet - I'm not aware of it. He is a legend.

A message from the Fairchild Family to Raymond's friends and fans:
As many of you know, Raymond was recently in a serious accident on his lawn tractor. At this time he's still hospitalized. We are truly grateful for all your prayers and concern.
He is making progress, but had a small setback last night. Because of this we respectfully request no visitors at this time. His doctors have stressed the importance of him having time to rest to ensure his recovery. We, the family, have been quite busy as well at this time and hope you can respect our privacy as we deal with Raymond's accident and helping him heal. We are also trying to rest when we can, which can be any time of day.
We ask for your continued prayers and welcome your cards and letters so that Raymond can read them as he is able. His mailing address is...
Raymond Fairchild
P.O. Box 253
Maggie Valley, NC 28751
We will do our best to update his Facebook page and website with his progress.
Again, Raymond and the Fairchild family sincerely thanks you all for your support and prayers.

Update on Raymond. 6 PM EDT 8/26/17
Raymond was transferred to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit Thursday night. The brain trauma was more traumatic than previously thought. He will remain on a ventilator to give his body a chance to heal. We appreciate the many thoughts and prayers and please continue to lift Raymond up in your prayers. At this time we respectively ask for no visitors. Love to each and everyone of you. The Fairchild Family.

Update from the family today
Update. We are asking everyone to please pray for Raymond's pneumonia to heal. He has made progress from the other problems he is having but the main concern right now is the bacterial pneumonia he is fighting. We told Raymond that many thousands of people were praying for him and he gave a thumbs up! Many thanks and much love to all of you for your positive thoughts and continued prayers. Please share. The Fairchild Family

We wanted to give everyone an update on Raymond. He is making progress and he is still in recovery. The antibiotics are working as for the pneumonia and his oxygen level has stabilized which we are very grateful for that! We have had so many wonderful folks message us asking about Raymond. The healing part is going to be a slow process. We have been asked if Raymond is allowed visitors.... not at this time, since we do not want him to take a backset of something... plus he needs all the rest he can get. When that time comes, we will let his friends an extended family know. Again, we want to thank everyone for all their thoughts and continued prayers. With much love and appreciation. The Fairchild Family

We visited with Raymond today and Raymond wanted us to thank everyone for all the positive thoughts and prayers that he has received. He will be in the hospital for a couple more weeks going to physical therapy. His wonderful team of Doctors and Nurses want to make sure he is at 100% before sending him home. With much love and appreciation to all. God is good! The Fairchild Family
